How about this for stupid?

(try to look through the propaganda when you read this... that is, anything in quotes from mad Paul Watson)
http://www.nzherald.co.nz/storydisplay.cfm? storyID=3005377&thesection...

I see. So the anti-whalers have come to New Zealand, proclaiming that whaling must stop because whaling kills animals.

Why don't these hypocrites criticise New Zealand farmers for killing cows too? Okay, fine, they are a 'Sea Shepard' organization - but that doesn't mean they shouldn't pass comment on agricultural practices as well.

How stupid.

They think they are addressing the Japanese argument that an animal is an animal by going all vegan on their little tour. The reality is that most New Zealanders like eating animals too, just like most Japanese, except they prefer a different variety. And let's not waste time with BS whale saver propaganda such as 'whales are endangered!' - the research in the antarctic takes a relatively miniscule amount of whales, from a species which the IWC scientific committee has never considered to be endangered. Whether you want to believe the research is required or not (I do but I won't go there), it's pretty difficult to claim that 440 minkes out the whopping population is going to be noticed. It doesn't appear to have made a difference over the last 10 years of research whaling.

These SeaShepard nutters aren't going to help the anti-whaling cause with stupidity like this - they are only going to alienate themselves from what is usually a fairly supportive (ie, intolerant to whaling, but thumbsup for cow and sheep killing etc) population down there in New Zealand. What they may in fact do is make people think a little harder about whaling - if it is okay to kill cows and sheep, then perhaps it is actually okay to kill whales too. Afterall, we New Zealanders used to kill heaps until we couldn't find any to hunt any longer... That's the reason we stopped whaling - we killed too many.

So would any farmers out there like to pass comment on the notion that it is wrong to eat animals?

Have a good day everyone!

If they farmed their whales im sure it would not be a problem. There is not a limitless supply of sea life and if they went unchecked they would have wipped out the species long before now.

Now regarding your silly sheep and cows argument. We farm these animals for consumption, we dont rape their natural environment and take every last one till theres none left. I dont see the Japanese farming their whales do you?

The way whales are managed & killed by humans and the way farm animals are managed & killed by humans vary quite a bit.

As a Maori of the Westietitwhaka Iwi, I take offense to your analogies. Whales are piles of beautiful floating blubber, which should be persevered and respected.

The long haired hippy beetnik cretins are correct. Save the whales, slaughter a hippy instead.

Anyway, have you hobos never watched Star Trek? Let's not make that mistake again.

The next time a giant dildo flies into orbit to talk to whales, it may not be so forgiving.

I happened to have had some whale meat a few years ago... It's like bacon, only with less flavor (since it isn't smoked or processed) and quite fatty. The taste...is...unique.
