Buy Nothing Day ~ TARGET WAL-MART

The Buy Nothing Day holiday (BND) has caught on somewhat and may very well be one of the best vehicles we have in terms of getting to a healthier, happier, saner, sustainable way of life. With that in mind the following is a collection of ideas about what we can do to make BND more effective by bringing it to America's largest corporate retailer known as WalMart. If you are down with these ideas (and want to make them more effective) please repost and forward this article by email and/or conventional post.

The day after Thanksgiving...

Show up at your local Wal-Mart, bright and early with your friends, and start filling carts with the most desired consumer 'goods' (small toys and expensive trinkets are ideal since all this stuff will have to be re-shelved)

What a dumb idea. I mean I don't like Walmart as much as the next person. I live in a town that has been fighting the building of a walmart in the town for around 10 years, if that gives you an idea of where I am coming from.

But what does this accomplish!

The only people you just hurt were the poor people who have to work those low paying jobs!

If you want to hurt walmart - don't shop at walmart and support your local smaller stores. Its really simple.

A hoiday for the losers?

How big should a store be alowed to get before it triggers anti-trust laws? Shoud there be regulation of big companies coming into areas and wiping out the local businesses? If so wouldn't that be unfair since national fast food and hardware stores have been doing it for years?

Our day after Thanksgiving is long gone but as I recall, I didn't shop anyway. I seldom shop as in shopping just for something to do. If I 'need' something, it goes onto a list and is purchased our next trip into the nearest town. A trip won't be made unless it is a real necessity. If I 'want' something, it goes onto another list. Chances are good by the time I ever get around to the want list, I no longer want it I do like buying online to save trips to town though if I can. Just recently I bought Clear Jel online delivered to our PO box within a 5 min walk of our house. I shop ebay too simply because I can get things there I can't get here and because I can do it wearing pj's and slippers Oh, and I do like getting packages in the mail something that harkens back to my childhood days of the old Simpson-Sears catalogues. I get a lot more pleasure out of that than pushing a heavy, unco-operative cart down crowded isles full of tired parents toting equally tired kids. I'm sure Walmart and Target can easily live without my $10 - $20 purchases a year and still make a tidy

'Bill Bonde ( ''And the Lamb lies down on Broadway'' )'

Not the economy. Walmart can do that on their own. By low wages and absurd TV commercials.

I read where states are complaining of millions in losses for paying for Walmart employees' use of unpaid health services.

Once the competition is wiped out, how long do you think those low prices will last?

I would pay twice the price before I would spend money at Walmart. Their parking lot is useful for eating a burger from a nearby drive-thru. That's as close as I would get to their door.

I think they act more like a weird southern fundy cult than a retail business of Chinese imports.

If you want to recruit saboteurs or terrorists, why not just come out and say so?

Taint gunna happen except in Walton's wet dreamworld.

Forever, essentially because whenever they dont, someone else can start up, just like Walmart did with Kmart etc.

Welcome to the real world.

You're always welcome to do that.

Bet that will have the Walmart suits pouring from their windows like lemmings as soon as they read your post.

Not a shred of evidence that you actually capable of thought.

You're always welcome to never ever darken their door, child.
