Why can't we eat a 'semi' (and I use the term loosely) intelligent animal?
Theoretically, if aliens came down and started eating us we would do every thing in our power to defend ourselves because we are intelligent beings and are able to do so. It's not known if whales are even able to identify a whaling ship as a danger, let alone do anything about it.

This is what I find so very very funny. All the anti-whalers are going around saying 'we humans have to realise that it is wrong to kill animals that are not as smart as us'. As you point out, and as I have pointed out in the past, stupid humans, and sometimes not so stupid humans have been known to be eaten. It's a part of nature. We should not try to seperate ourselves from nature. We are just another animal. There is no reason we should not follow our instincts. To do so would be unnatural.

'Humans are animals' does not mean 'humans should eat humans'. Humans are social animals, and as social animals do not eat each other any more than other social animals eat each other.
He's not on any fence.
He's not flip-flopping either. The only flip-flopping here is in your 'logic'.
