What??? Politicians lie?? Since when?
France, Germany, so on, didn't go in, not because they didn't believe that Saddam had the weapons, or they felt that it would be better to give peace a chance and give Saddam more time to surrender any weapons he might have had. They lent money to Saddam which they hadn't gotten back yet, and they had a 'weapons for oil' deal with Mr. Hussein. What? They had personal gains by leaving Saddam in power? I thought they were just peaceful people that listened to what the world was telling them. Nah. Even the former prime mister of Canada, Chretien, who said he wouldn't do anything without the consent of the UN (seriously?) had personal interest in this whole deal. Ahem. His daughter is married to the man that owns the oil companies in France? Really? I thought Canada was always just a peaceful country, if we exclude all the wars they were in and their very very very sad involvement in Afganistan. Btw, what was the real reason for the war in Afganistan? Yeah, I heard that the Taliban support Osama, but was there proof that he was really there and might still be there? I don't know. Besides, anything you hear on the news is propaganda anyway, right?
As a Canadian, I'm glad that the US/Britain/Spain/and company finally took action to get rid of Saddam. Whether the reasons they gave are valid, I don't really care because as far as I know, (in recent history) they never used chemical weapons on their own people, they didn't torture their sports teams when they lost a game or event, their citizens didn't flee their countries out of fear of being forced to join their army or be totured to death, or have family members suddenly taken away and never heard from again, or be afraid to speak any ill of their leaders out of fear of being tortured and killed. As far as I know, the Iraqi people don't really want the Americans and company to be in their country, but they are glad that Saddam is gone. It also appears that the majority of people fighting back, are outsiders that just don't like the idea of westerners being in the middle east.
As for soldiers being killed, well, if they didn't want the risk of being killed, maybe they should have thought twice before joining the army? I don't know. I do know that I wouldn't ever join. Was it a good idea for the Americans to go in. I don't know. I'm not American so it doesn't concern me, but I do feel that it was the right thing to do. I don't really care who would have gotten rid of Saddam, as long as that person wasn't a Joseph Stalin fan. And I am very thankful to all the people that gave their life, either fully or just for the time being, to help the Iraqis because I feel that it is a very selfless and admirable act and a personality trait that I do not posses. The world is a better place with Saddam out of the picture.
Oh wait a minute! This is alt.wolves! Sorry for the political rant. I really hate politics. Seriously, I do. Politics is nothing but full of selfish liars. Give me the old days when people hunted in hand made tools are only wore clothing for warmth. Just pure survival and none of this useless mumbo jumbo. Now that's living!
