One of the last places that was “safe” from the climate changes until now is showing a signs that the process is influencing it too.

From the Smog Blog:

In northern Greenland, a part of the Arctic that had seemed immune from global warming, new satellite images show a growing giant crack and an 11-square-mile chunk of ice hemorrhaging off a major glacier, scientists said Thursday. And that’s led the university professor who spotted the wounds in the massive Petermann glacier to predict disintegration of a major portion of the Northern Hemisphere’s largest floating glacier within the year

After the reports that 2008 is actually not warmer than previous years I have to wander are the cracks to the glaciers something that see more because we monitor changes to the ice or is global warming progressing in some areas more than others.

There could be other explanations for the reasons why there seems to be more cracks and disconnection of glaciers such as the earth movement but I guess much more research is needed.
