$1.6 million is only enough to pay administrative salaries.

Government of Canada announces $1.6 million for climate change projects

OTTAWA, June 3 /CNW/ - The Honourable David Anderson, Minister of the Environment and the Honourable Herb Dhaliwal, Minister of Natural Resources Canada, are announcing a $1.6 million investment in a series of projects aimed at informing youth, educators and the general public about climate change and the benefits of taking action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Today's announcement involves funding for 31 new projects across Canada, through the Public Education and Outreach (PEO) component of the Climate Change Action Fund (CCAF). These new projects include educational initiatives that will build on existing climate change education tools, materials and training workshops, community-based awareness and action programs for youth, as well as projects to develop and enhance climate change information tools for the general public. 'The participation of individual Canadians is one of the key elements of Canada's Climate Change Plan, and a key to engaging Canadians is outreach and education,' said Environment Minister David Anderson. 'These projects will broaden Canadians' understanding of climate change, and of the simple things each of us can do to take action on climate change and clean air.' 'I am pleased that we are partnering on these youth-oriented projects,' said Herb Dhaliwal, Minister of Natural Resources Canada. 'Engaging youth is key to addressing a long-term challenge like climate change.' The Government of Canada established the CCAF to take concrete steps to engage Canadians, non-governmental organizations, businesses, universities, communities and various levels of government in partnerships to promote climate change understanding, action and adaptation. The $150 million Climate Change Action Fund was introduced in 1998, and renewed with a second investment of $150 million in Budget 2000. The CCAF-PEO program provides an integrated investment approach focused on partnerships and government leadership for action. Working in four general streams - communities, youth and educators, business and industry, and the public - CCAF-PEO contributes to the achievement of the Government of Canada's overall objective of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by increasing public awareness and understanding of climate change and providing Canadians with the information they need to take action.

$1.6 million is sufficient for about two dozen new staff positions. It doesn't *look* like a lot of money for '31 new projects'. There are more important priorities.

Sounds like just a propaganda indoctrination. That doesn't take a lot of dough.

It is a propaganda indoctrination. The government of Canada claims the atmosphere is like a greenhouse. See, for instance: http://www.climatechange.gc.ca/english/workroom/ students/greenhouse.s...

In the real atmosphere the wind can blow your umbrella away. This would never happen in a greenhouse which is designed to constrain convection and thus trap hot air. That's how a greenhouse works.

The government of Canada is promoting a phony belief system.
