There was an interesting story in the Asashi Shinbun today. A survey showed that 60% of Japanese oppose the resumption of commercial whaling.

Or was it just 60% of Japanese who don't personally want to eat whale meat?

The wording of the question is quite important

What a lovely post. This would confirm the opinion that I have with regards to japanese nationals. I have many sail with me during the course of a year.

What was interesting during a discussion of whaling with some japanese, was the lack of knowledge about the extent of Japanese whaling. One young woman hotly denied that Japanese conducted any whaling outside their own territorial waters and was very surprised when this was shown to not be the case.

Cheers
