First of all, Kevin, eat shit and die. I courteously asked for some point of reference, and 'generally known' in the context of this debate doesn't meet that standard. Either step up to the plate or forfeit, dude. Just as a point of reference, the protesters claimed that the whale meat was inedible by humans, then they claimed that despite being inedible by humans, it was worth Big Bucks in Japan; then when it was pointed out that US law presently forbids export of the meat for commercial purpose, they went back to 'the Siberian word for gray whale meat is 'that which makes you shit' which I don't think slimeball Michael Kundu could remember in the Siberian. Then about 1000 people feasted on 'Yabis'; the only one I heard who got sick was Robert Sullivan, and he admitted it was emotional.
Second, Floyd, as far as understanding the IWC negotiations with Japan, I believe the criticism was that the minke hunt was unlikely to produce research results of sufficient value to justify killing the whales. That is a subjective judgment, as I understand it. The IWC staff did not say the research scheme had NO value, correct?
Third, I believe that the IWC criticism of the Bryde's whale take was that the numbers were not known with sufficient certainty to permit a research hunt without additional population data. I never saw where Japan rebutted that charge, and that is where I flamed Japan even before the last Commission meeting. Correct me if I am wrong. It is certainly the sort of thing on which reasonable experts could disagree.
And by the way, welcome back. YOu will notice that I have been paying attention to your gentle advice to sometimes feed a troll. Paid professional troll and snitch, new career opportunities on Usenet. The B team has been around too, Floyd,
